Who's there? Why is there a treaty by 53 countries protecting this area. You can take a tour only in two spots of Antarctica today. In NZ and the other in South America. Is Antarctica that big? John Kerry can go there. Why? Why did Potus say he will purchase Greenland. Does that have to do anything with Antarctica? Just trying to understand. Mods, Please don't deport because critical thinking should be allowed here.

I watched a US military documentary (shot at the time) following the expedition to the antarctic, from memory (and I'm sure some here will know when and who) it was in the 1950's, and a lot of work was carried out down there.
One thing I did learn (supposing it was correct) is that there are no germs, bacteria etc because of the extreme temperature?
I stand to be corrected but thought it was an interesting point to note.
Funny, I read here in the last two weeks Covid just ripped through the base down there. They have like a 10 day quarantine for everyone coming to the base, yet they still all got it. Curious.
