I banked with B of A for waaay too long. Finally made the switch to BECU (Boeing Employees Credit Union for those of you in Loma Linda) and I’ve never been happier with a bank. I regret it took me so long to make the switch but I still relish the day I called B of A and told them the reason I pulled all of my accounts was because they are 100% UN-AMERICAN.
Yes, after many years of dealing with WF since they had a branch within walking distance, they have managed to screw things up royally. Lots of down time at Charles Schwab as well.
yes, I had a strange deposit on my card for about $0.17 that sat in pending for a few days and then disappeared, from "Family Pools and Spa" from Saranac Michigan
I moved all my money out of WF. They were charging me a surcharge percentage to count my cash deposits. Counting money is a bank's core competency... isn't it? Yet, they were charging me a fee to count my cash deposits. I told them to fuck off.
But it get's worse. I went to two other large banks to open accounts. Both refused to give me checking accounts. Why? They said I had no credit. Keep in mind I was moving quite a large amount of money there. I have not borrowed money in 30 years. I haven't had any debt for 25 years. I haven't used credit cards in 20 years. So they pull my credit and I have none.
So here is the logical conclusion. If you achieve the end-game of not needing to borrow money, no need to finance, no need for credit cards... you will not be rewarded. Instead you will be penalized.
I once worked for a small rural bank. It's scary how vulnerable the system is. Large banks like WF and BofA process their own data. However, most regional banks use a data processing company called FiServ. They process about 40% of all retail transactions, credit updates, etc. Hit FiServ with a denial of service attack at around 6am on consecutive days and/or penetrate their servers with viruses, and you could cause a MAJOR panic in retail banking.
switch to a credit union
^^^THIS^^^
I've made the mistake of banking once with BofA and once with WF. Never again.

First off, get out of anything connected to Wells Fargo. They did you a favor
