Right, how long have we been hearing about a massive food shortage now? Like 2 years?
For some reason all types of media love trotting out these stories every week. I'm not quite sure what the entire purpose is. There has to be more to it than just fearporn clicks. "A meteor may strike next week" "a solar flare my wipe out all electronics next week" "food might be GONE from the shelves next month" "Iranian hackers may bring down the system next Friday" "sharks might grow legs via evolution and assault Americans in the streets by as early as next Thursday"

IMO it's to keep a general level of unease going so that when .gov provides the solution it makes it easier to accept. AKA, predictive programming.
