I understand people are uncomfortable with genetic screening of a fetus if they're pro-life, but genetic screening of parents if there's a concern about being a carrier for something is worth considering. Being a carrier of a fatal condition like cystic fibrosis is more common than people think, especially if there's any family history of it. I know someone who had a child with it without knowing he and his wife were carriers. Knowing that ahead of time could help couples plan and screen/implant embryos first if that's something they're comfortable with rather than waiting until they're further into a pregnancy and debating abortion. Again I know this isn't for everyone but it could give you peace of mind if there's a family history of certain fatal genetic conditions.
