So my employer is reviewing my exemption submission for COVID-19. The basis for my religious exemption is the use of fetal cell lines HEK-293 and PER.C6 in the development, research, testing, manufacturing, etc of the vax.
They called and asked me if I'm able to confirm that I refrain from using any and all other OTC / common medications that use these cell lines (Tylenol, ibuprofen, etc). My cabinet is full of natural vitamins and supplements. I drink water when I have a headache. So yes, I can answer that question. But holy cow is that not an extreme overreach of the scope of the exemption request? Has anyone else dealt with this?
The flu shot called Flublok is also ethical and does not use fetal cell line research. Also Shingrix shingle shot and Humira. I am awaiting my exemption to be approved. But since when is my religious exemption to be judged by anybody but God is what I want to know? I also used the same argument that you are using. My employer used a form with multiple questions. It looked very legalistic. I am expecting that I will get a no exemption. I know of other employers that don't think twice and accept any exemptions put in. So please post if you get your exemption. I hope you get it.
Agree 100%. What a dangerous precedent that legal teams and HR departments qualify individual religious beliefs. I’m assuming I will still get approved but it was funny when they thought they had cornered me… I hope you get yours too. It’s wild how different each process is for every employer / institution.
