I am a nurse who has luckily had a religious exemption since August, so I have escaped the healthcare mandates unscathed thus far. My husband works 8a-5p m-f as a civil engineer with “ok” compensation. We are expecting our second child this coming August. We are saving for our dream home with the increasing cost of living in New England (housing market is terrible here, and we pay for private schooling because like many, do not trust public schooling). The short of it is this: he has been offered a new job in his field with significantly better compensation, health insurance, 401k, and the ability to work remotely, which will significantly help in our ability to save money in regards to daycare. The company’s offer, however, is contingent upon all new hires being vaccinated(so we know that the company DOES have employees there that are unvaccinated, and we know that SCOTUS has ruled against mandate for businesses). I am wondering if anyone has any advice in regards to claiming a religious exemption as being a new hire. I personally was already working at my facility when I claimed religious exemption. Any advice will be so appreciated. As always, thankful for this community!!!! WWG1WGA

Might actually be easier to get as a new hire. One, they don't know about you, or your specific religious habits yet, and two, NOW is the time to leverage and negotiate, not once they've got you. Good luck!
