RCMP is federal, heavily influenced by PM Turdeau. Alberta, unlike most Canadian provinces, does not have its own provincial police force so the RCMP functions in that capacity in Alberta. The often heavy handed oppressive actions of police in Alberta during covid is no doubt fueling the public push back at this bridge and across the province and country. The people have had enough.
