Hard Truth: It won't live up to your expectations
And you know this how?
I have multiple years of experience in developing software, specifically online platforms, and you don't just whip out something like FB in 3 months. You also can't just throw more bodies at it to get it done faster, that will result in a hodgepodge of different feeling features. It's going to release with a small set of features that will be underwhelming compared to a Facebook. You can replicate a Twitter pretty quickly, but you wouldn't be able to produce the layers of back end management you would need when considering a 1 million + community that it will draw.
I'm not against it, but like FrankSpeech, it's going to launch to an underwhelming result that other companies already have and have been working on for decades or more. Unless they started with an open source start like Gab went too. But if they go that route, it will just be a red white and blue Gab.
You know it's based on Mastodon right? Which is based on GnuSocial or something like that and goes WAY back.
They did in fact start with an open source project.
Coulda Googled that before typing all that out 💁
Then its going to be a red white and blue gab with AI moderation. Underwhelming.
