They always get worse just before they end.
I believe this brainwashing is the same. People will cling to the brainwashing mind fluff because that's all they know. Reality can be frightening to face. It makes people uncomfortable. I believe people try clinging on to the brainwashing even after they know the truth. They will cling most tightly to it just before they finally let it go.
If only we could carry them off to bed and say here's your binkie, time for a nap.
