How could Trump have stopped the governors from locking down? Unless you actually believe the federal government should supercede state government than that can't have been possible.
Executive order cutting all federal funding for absolutely everything that an EO could have limited for those states. Not a penny of federal funding for any state implementing lockdowns. Also, immediate pardon for any and everyone prosecuted for having their business open during lockdowns. He also could have just used the bully pulpit to talk about the evil and danger of lockdowns, which he hardly did.
Just because someone hates you and is evil doesn't mean you don't speak against evil. "Oh, evil hates me already, I shouldn't speak against it or else it will just be more evil..." No, it doesn't work that way, you have an obligation to speak against evil even if it inflames evil, to not do so is to be complicit.
