Anyone can edit WP so it is often raided with insertions of disputed data. They are typically caught immediately but can last over 10 years in quiet articles. Since WP keeps virtually everything, you can easily find unreliable versions in the history; they usually don't last very long.
For instance, the first objection to GFM's seizure appears to be one that survived for 61 minutes on 2/4, written by IP address 174.251.208.140 , reading, "Business model ==Freezes the money of causes they disagree with. Example is Canadian convoy. Our company is a fraud, run by communist sympathizers. We DO NOT agree with freedom for the peasants."
A now-banned throwaway account, Bnf08rven0f93n90, seems to have gotten the more serious "vandalism" edits going on 2/5 at 1:42 GMT, which began to get removed at 2:12 (30 minutes plus). The user, supported by random IPs, continued fighting for similar verbiage ("edit warring"). The OP text was added by this user at 2:24, and reverted by another at 2:25, and the article was immediately protected against casual insertions by Ohnoitsjamie (a reputable admin I've seen before) at the same time. This is a very brief edit war by WP standards.
This of course leads to the important question, how is it that DuckDuckGo seized upon the new description of GFM during the exact one minute that it was publicly available on its main page? And how did Google seize upon a similar text for a similar period, as another thread showed?? It's like a mystery where someone left a white hat behind as evidence!
Here is the permalink to the anon's OP edit in all its glory, which will remain available under ordinary WP rules. It can also be accessed on WP by its edit number, 1069984174.
Thanks for that!!! I remember when St. Fentanyl collapsed and BLM started their party, Wiki was updated to remove that Soros funds BLM.
