I spoke to my wife about smallpox. She said a lot of the issues came with the dangerous treatments. She said there are a lot better treatments now that aren't as bad. Basically she shrugged her shoulders and said "meh". Pretty much her response to covid two years ago and chickenpox ten years ago.
