Pay off my car with my savings?
I have reason to believe we are heading towards a recession and the value of my dollar will be $0

I don’t think you should pay off your car
If there is a recession you might need the money to buy food. If it is more than a recession, no one will be repossessing your car anyway
If it is only a recession buy gold and silver. Buy ACTUAL , REAL gold and silver. You can buy it online everywhere, I’ve ordered 3 times and usually get it pretty quickly that way you have it in your hands. You can then trade or sell it, if need be.
BUT
If there is a civil war or societal collapse
Buy ammo and survival food. You can use them or trade them. people will need ammo( even if just for hunting) and food. Both will be very valuable to barter with.
If the shit hits the fan. In my opinion gold, silver and things like that will be useless. At least until we get back to civilized life If you were starving would you want gold or silver?
Not saying I’m right but that’s what I’m doing.
