Take Romans 13. 1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Has been changed in many Bible editions to

1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Or even

1 Be a good citizen. All governments are under God. Insofar as there is peace and order, it's God's order. So live responsibly as a citizen.

Or

1 Every person should place themselves under the authority of the government. There isn't any authority unless it comes from God, and the authorities that are there have been put in place by God.
