Well its a Russian helicopter, duh so they copied our marking system??? they copy everything else.

That's my point though, IS IT RUSSIAN? All the other russian vehicles I've seen so far have a [Z] on them.

So insightful. I'm aware it's a russian built helicopter... but you seem to be missing the actual question. When I'm asking "is it russian" I'm implying that the occupants/owners of it might not be... understand?
