This post isn't about starting violence with said guns. It is about the 2nd amendment essentially being a safety net against authoritarianism. There is a reason in the US we don't resemble current Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc(not to say we are in the best shape either). It is because they know they can't get away with lording over us and doing whatever they damn well please because of the 2nd amendment.
Just want to be clear this isn't about starting violence or condoning it. It is about how important the 2nd amendment has been in keeping a large amount of our rights/freedoms in the US untouched.
In newzealand you can still apply for a gun licence,.but you can use a rifle or a shotgun without a licence if there is a person with you who holds a gun licence .kinda like a learner driver in nz can drive a Car if the person beside them have a Licence but they have some pretty shit rules about hunting, you cant use a gun for hunting during the hrs of darkness,.which is determined ,as 1hr after sunset to 1 hr before sunrise,if you leave the millitary you can take your weapon with you for a certain length of time ,.( but you couldnt use it for Hunting).but if you want to go and Hunt you have to apply for a gun Licence, and then buy a gun,..pretty shitty,...
DONT EVER GIVE UP YOUR GUNS EVER,.!!
Its probably not as bad as you think

Australia for example has 14.5 civvy firearms per 100 population. The numbers are very much skewed to areas outside of big cities though.
Likewise, the whole "Lording over people" is very much overblown in the media. Its very prevalent in big cities maybe, but an hour's drive down the road, and the story is very different. (and not because of the prevalence of firearms - its just that the people are different, and far less likely to give a shit).
Its more that there is a section of society, that for whatever reason, is simply basking in the joy of being controlled, and begging for more. They are problem, not the politicians, or the laws.
Getting a firearms licence, and control over what is available is obviously not the same to what you have over there.
Good example of whats available over the counter, and how much it costs. https://www.thebarn.net.au/categories/Firearms/23
oh look - a real battle rifle, if you have the $$ https://www.thebarn.net.au/Products/Lithgow%20L1A1%20762x51/109360
From the outside looking in, the whole world watched in real time as the 2020 election shenanigans unfolded in the USA, and I dont recall any rights (2A or otherwise) having any effect on how things went down back then.
Same with Canadian "rights", and our "rights" to go to the beach or eat a kebab in the park.
None of these rights are worth the paper they are printed on it seems.
Probably because of that, there is no shortage of illegal firearms in circulation that dont need any paperwork. (not that Id know)
Until relatively recently I never viewed 2A to be about protecting your rights & freedoms from a tyrannical Govt. but more about personal protection.
I do recognize that in countries where citizens generally do not carry firearms, there is an argument to be made that there are proportionally fewer firearm incidents.
That said, I can recount numerous incidents, either witnessed or experienced, where the victim was unable to defend themselves.
These incidents included physical disadvantage, numerical disadvantage or the offender was armed with some type of weapon.
Without wanting to appear racist, since the influx of refugees, Europe has seen a vast increase in knife crimes.
Personally I believe 2A gives everyone the chance to level the playing field and defend themselves against superior force.
There is still gun crime but generally by elements of society that are not exactly law abiding citizens.
I am for 2A as I believe everyone should have the human right to defend themselves, family and property.
I'm probably a little biased though as I have always enjoyed guns and shooting from a recreational standpoint and from my time in the military.
Serious question guys, where the fuck is the Millitia,..?
In the UK Tony Bliar took what was left of our gun rights away after what seems to have been a MK Ultra shooting spree in the Midlands. The only people with guns now are the police, the military and criminals,
We would have to use mass civil disobedience against potential tyranny. Protests, strikes, walk-outs... There's also other weapons you can use in guerilla warfare like home-made explosives etc... Guns can also be acquired with extra steps.
