I've been in similar through this too. I was held up too, and they suggested I reapply at a "more appropriate time in the future." Even when the mandates are lifted there is no way I would re-apply. Frankly, any job interview moving forward I will ask them what their policy was during the lockdowns.

That's been my first question for the last 2 dozen interviews I've done. I ask if they have a policy regarding vaccines, masks, or any kind of testing. It's saved me a lot of time with many employers.
