I think this map sums up many things. Even if it is a humorous meme.

Starting from the bottom:

Sub Saharan Africa, if left alone would happily go back to their hunger/gatherer lives they have lead for most of human existence. They would probably be much happier than they are now.

Middle East, same. Most would probably be more happy if they were simply left alone to live their partial hunter/gatherer lives under their own devices. Allowed to decide for themselves, regardless of world opinion.

Subsaharan Africa knows what’s up. They know what it’s like to really suffer.
