I don't know about others but I only live about 20 miles from my work. Right now I'm still driving my Duramax Diesel LTZ back and forth to work everyday. My wife has worked from home since the plandemic started so that washes for me right now with fuel costs. Maybe a lot of others are in the same situation and neither has to drive to work and back. If diesel goes above 5 bucks where I live I'll start driving my beater Corolla to offset. We make enough so it doesn't really hurt us too bad. I imagine if folks that had their income planned to the cent on gas it might be a problem
Work from home in general seems to have mostly ended in my area based on how the morning and evening traffic has quickly returned almost to 2019 levels of congestion.
I've been working from home since 2017. The only reason I'm still with my current employer is because I don't have to commute and I haven't found a job yet that will actually pay enough to be worth it once the price of gas is factored in, and this was before Ukraine so I'm sure it's even worse now.
We filled up right before the prices jumped up and on a 1/2 a tank at the moment.

I could do the same thing but the grand babies are 35 minutes away. Lucky that they come to us sometimes.
