When it comes to lithium it is incredibly common to do blood tests because the wrong dosage can have long term impact on your body and they also want to make sure that you’re getting the right amount for it to work. Just because there would be blood testing does not serve as an indicator that she had blood poisoning. When people are in acute care facilities and are put on lithium and dosage is being changed it is very very very common to do blood tests multiple times in a week to make sure that you’re getting the optimum dosage for therapeutic benefits and not a dangerous dose. After getting out of a facility the blood testing continues when on lithium but not as frequently.
