Oh yes it is! And I worry about Lynch's intentions too - though I suspect he's a white hat. Still digging into his dense body of work, and his early interviews. I don't want to state anything definitively, but apparently he had some Dark, Eye Opening Experiences with Producers early in his career. <cough> my suspicion is he's been telling That Story ever since. And greedy Woodsmen that They are, they can't resist the money and the glory that comes their way through David's (oblique) retellings...
Frankly, I think EVERYTHING Lynch has done is about The Subject we all talk about here.
I'll definitely have to check out Twin Perfect - because I've been "Decoding" Twin Peaks myself for the last two years, and it's an enormous, enormous job. Edit: I have watched the first hour and a half of that video - it is good. Will have to finish it if you say he gets into the Real Stuff (I was skeptical anyone would get into it).
FTR Mulholland Drive gives away the entire plot in the beginning where we see the elderly couple in the backseat of their taxi, grinning explicitly like the sharks they are. Nom nom nom. Ears to see, ears to hear. A oft repeated line in Twin Peaks is "listen to me". Surveillance, NSA / FBI, Owls, Physic Abilities, Time Travel, Transcendentalism.
Last note, TPs Evil Scheme is resolved by Dougie Cooper, working in insurance, and getting the mafia involved. Zawaski Insurance.
I really wish I could remember the exact interview - it may have been in the Blue Velvet extra features which would be synchronistic. I honestly think it was a YT auto play video after I'd watched a few Tarantino and Welles interviews. So perhaps Lynch on Charlie Rose. 🤔
Since I popped in last I've finished my 3rd rewatch of TP S03. Fun fact: the entire series ends up in an "alternate reality" starting off in Odessa, Texas (certainly NOT Ukraine ;)) Establishing shots prominently feature Maersk shipping containers.
Lost Highway kicks ass

Maersk - Interesting coincidences
