How did you last this long putting up with their shit? Lol. I used to be the "nice guy", too once upon a time. Always got straight A's, never got into trouble at school, and never spoke out when I saw people doing things I disagreed with.
Then one day in 4th grade, I ended up getting called outside of the classroom by the teacher who mistakingly thought I was the one who was shooting spitballs at the retarded kid in our classroom 😑
I was so infuriated she would even think that I'd do that. And when the whole class "gasped", and pointed at me because I was the kid that never got in trouble, I started crying uncontrollably because the rage was too much to contain.
From that day on, I swore I would never let myself be seen as the kid that never did bad things. I would be as mischievous as possible from that day on, and I would avoid getting in trouble and I would lie my way out if I had to.
Moral of the story: Don't force yourself to be passive aggressive. It will eat you alive inside and it's inevitable. Tell people how you feel, no matter what the consequences. If someone's worth keeping in your life, they will stick around. If they don't, the friendship was build on sand and twigs anyway.
