For me it comes and goes... an overwhelming sense of hopelessness seems to creep up on me, and I have to fight through it.
Yes, Jesus is my source of hope. But I am human. I have a need to stay informed, and yet it wrecks me often, due to the evil I discover.
Even knowing that Jesus has won, that we have won, that we are winnning... these are such "far away" concepts in the face of the ugliness that we see unveiled every day.
So much energy goes into keeping a grasp on all that is happening, so as to be able to red-pill others and to protect my family. That's how I am wired. Can't help it.
So I find my balance this way: I try to limit my time here (rather than just an all day constant presence), and I pray for wisdom and strength. I also choose to live as an example of goodness (and I am not perfect!). These things keep me sane.
I wrote this because I assume many struggle with this balance... and I just wanted to encourage everyone to hang in there, and take a moment to acknowledge the challenge and to strategize about how best to maintain the balance for yourself.
If we are not mentally, emotionally, and spiritually strong when the shit really blows up, then we will not be the shepherds I believe God is calling us to be.
We know that's worse... which actually contributes to the depression! But they are happy in their ignorance (the ones who think everything is fine). It's such a strange dynamic.
You can’t focus on the negative 24/7. Remember to think about and research the good. There is opposition in all things. Patriots (shadow, and every day) are fighting the good fight.
Life is suffering. Suffering is the resistance that helps us grow stronger, like lifting weights. One thing I’ve realized: there is opportunity everywhere. Sometimes it’s hard to find the positive - but you can ALWAYS find an opportunity in every situation.
This is a book that I can't recommend enough: https://www.amazon.com/Your-Oxygen-Mask-First-Leadership-ebook/dp/B076TBQP61
It helps you discover the resilience habits that help you feel your best. Activities for your body, mind, and spirit.
It teaches mental health continuum and steps to take when stress starts to crack your armor.
You have to spend time on yourself. And for you to do that, you need to figure out what helps you feel your best. For some, such as angrysnowpede in the comment below, it's hiking. For me, it's computer games. For you, it might be something else.
Me personally, I look for politics-related news here on GAW, for Ukraine news here: https://t.me/s/asbmil, and I try to ignore what the mainstream propaganda machine pushes here in my country.
Other than that, what I find most helpful is to be around people that get what is going on. Even one or two face-to-face conversations per week can make a difference.
But you have to figure out what works for you the best. Chapter 3 of the book Your oxygen mask first will help you with that.
Good luck!
Awesome! Thanks for the resource. Can't wait to explore it
