Antonio Meucci invented the telephone and submitted it to the Patent Office in 1871. They turned it down. In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell looked at Meucci's patent to see where he went wrong, fixed what needed to be fixed, re-submitted it and was given the patent. Bell was merely a blood sucking leach.
