Why would they be? It should be the owner that didn't make their payments.
In a world where the individual is in forced bondage to corporate dictators, that's the only logical possibility.
There are two responsible parties here. You, and the person who didn't make the payment.
If the person who didn't make the payment had made their payment, which was their contractual obligation, the crash couldn't have ever possibly happened. Therefore they are the primary responsible party.
Statistics suggest a human is far more likely to be the cause of an accident than an AI (that has actual evidential support), therefore if an accident occurred, you, the person driver, are much more likely at fault. If there is any question of who was at fault, by a very strong statistical argument, you will almost certainly be the secondary responsible party.
