I remember messing with feminist in HS over semantics back in the 70’s when they wanted to change everything to “person” instead of policeman etc. So I took their ridiculous premise and said “what do you say instead of “woMAN” because it has man in it? You can’t use “feMALE” because it has male in it. You can’t say “LADies” because it has lad in it. You can’t even use “perSON” because it has son in it. I suggest using WO in woman and the PER in person and call yourself a WOPER (pronounced woooper).” I left the lunch table with furious feminist that couldn’t think of an argument.
