My aunt, who lived for years in Norfolk, VA, was "new age" before people even called it that. She's long gone from this Earth, but she would perioducally visit the Edgar Cayce Institute in Virginia Beach, VA, for readings and guidance in her life. She never met Cayce himself, I think he had passed on by then, but the Institute did offer her medical and life advice, and I think they may have also had a few resident psychics there. Anyway, she always swore by them, that their insights, predictions, and advice was always useful and accurate as it pertained to her.
Edgar Cayce himself had little control of what came through to him in his dream state, and after a few bad experiences and feeling horrible after a few readings, he discovered that people were using his gift for very selfish and stock market profiteering reasons, so he had to cut them off. He only wanted to help people with real needs, not greedy people who would take advantage of others.
