Keep it away from buildings, it can spontaneously combust if not watched carefully.

YES!!! All compost must be monitored. Not much different from hay bales. I take a more natural and slow approach to composting (just more area and time required but less risk of fire) myself and make the leaf tea separate from yard debris.
