Yes it is a very valid point but the DS wants a reset and the best way for a reset is sending the population back to the dark ages. They (DS) don't want the peasants to have means to communicate and search for truth.
Am I worried about Taiwan, not really.
It is an island with very few beaches favorable to invasion. This wouldn't be WW2 where ships just sat offshore to unload troops. Ships laden with troops would be sunk out at sea. Depending on type we are talking over five thousand souls lost with each ship.
There would be no 'Red Dawn' air invasion. Talk to airborne soldiers, it takes huge armadas of planes to put just one division on the ground. Taiwan won't just let them fly over and drop troops. Airborne troops have to fight with what they carry and there won't be masses of vehicles and tanks in airborne drops, just lots of troops. We aren't even going to talk about the fact China has no experience in large airborne operations. There is no way China could take out all air assets Taiwan has. Taiwan has more anti-aircraft missiles than China has planes.
Yes China can take Taiwan, even with US and allies assisting Taiwan, but the cost would be gargantuan in lives. Taiwan is closer to China and logistics would be easier for China. Even without allies assisting Taiwan I shiver just thinking about the loss of life China would experience. The population of China wouldn't accept the losses especially with one child per family. Masses would rise up and flood over the oligarchs of the CCP.
