Do you have any IT skills? You could create your own ISP and even talk to your local city if this is a big problem. You can erect poles or mount them on sides of buildings but you need clear line of site. Look up point to point wireless bridges. There are some you can go 10 miles but most are a mile or two. If someone had fiber you could beam it to other people or just yourself and then share the internet
From my experience at camp grounds without much cell service, 3g is usually barely any connection and usually doesn’t work for anything except the basics and might mean you actually don’t have service. I’d say go the directional antenna as you will likely spend a lot less and not have to deal with expensive range extenders for Ethernet. I personally would build the antenna to save costs but it might not work as well.
