I didn't see the part about why the scientists think the plastic was absorbed by human bodies. But it does mention plastic production is set to double by 2040. Plastics have been in our systems for years. How could they not be? Partly to blame for the dramatic decrease in the average male testosterone levels.
Replacing platics from petrolium products is still a long way off. Oil prices will affect everything.
I could understand them being in the digestive track because of the food the offer to feed us with but we have stomach acids that breaks us down. How would it cross into the blood unless injecting it past the digestion track?
This is an assumption. What if this has always happened but the people you trusted told you that it didnt?

They are not mutally exclusive. We do have stomach acid. That doesnt mean it destroys plastics or prevents them from being absorbed.
