Xiden spewing more BS right now...
🐴 SHITPOST 💩
Exactly as expected, POTATUS blames "Putin's war" for high gas prices, instead of putting the blame on his failed policies where they belong. Gas prices shot up LONG before the Ukrainian invasion. What a piece of sh!t. Releasing 1 million gallon from the reserve will do NOTHING.
The U.S. uses about 18 Million barrels per day of oil.
We have been importing roughly 1 Million barrels per day from Russia. That amount has to be replaced somehow, while the oil industry ramps up production again to fill that need.
U.S. strategic reserves holds about 700 Million barrels of oil. I'm not sure, but would be surprised if the reserves currently hold more than about 580 Million barrels. Still, at 1MM per day, that's enough for at least a year of cushioning the blow from not importing Russian oil... and gives the industry a chance to get infrastructure in place to make up that difference.
Remember that, in November 2021, Biden released 50 Million barrels of oil from the U.S. reserves. Since industry can't use oil faster than it can be transported and refined... reasonable rate of usage of the released oil would have been 750,000 to 1 Million barrels per day then too. It would have taken 50 to 60 days at least to go through that original 50MM barrels that were released.
If he hadn't shut down domestic production and exploration his first week in, there wouldn't be a problem.
Correct.
