It’s so much simpler and no one even realizes. It’s in the name!!! The Vatican is named after the Goddess Vatika, who was the Etruscan queen of the underworld. Constantine, the first Catholic emperor, had a temple built on this hill, known as the Vatican Hill. A few centuries later, the papal palace was built.
