Minecraft is really fun.

Diamonds are fine, but what I really need right now is iron. I've read that the optimal depth to mine for iron is y=15.

Start strip mining around y14 or 15. It's a bit grindy but 2 hours of strip mining will yield tons of everything, and you'll discover a few caves for sure
