I’ve been driving a Tesla for over five years now. For cross country road trips, you are correct, the range is about 200 miles (300 with newer batteries) when we drive 80mph, and the charge times at least 30 minutes every 2-3 hours. It would be annoying.
But for daily driving and even short 200 mile trips, it works great. That is 99.5% of my driving.
On Top Gear, they're continually running out of energy and it take forever to recharge.
The electric car is still primitive. We cannot ditch the combustion engine yet.
