So, I worked my way through the article you linked, but I'm left with the question, "Why is this important?" Of course it's important in a historical, archaelogical sense, but why is it relevant to present day? The author didn't provide dates, per se, but most of what he discusses happened 2,500+ years ago. He mentioned that the article is part of a series. Is he leading up to a connection with the ancestry of the Khazars in eastern Europe?
The history in question seems long enough ago that the culture described mostly blended in with local groups as time moved on, with some elites perhaps continuing on through banking families. There doesn't seem to be a unifying goal presented as there is with current discussions, such as those with respect to Zionism. Without some sort of unifying theme, any reference to Phoenicians just fizzles out, so to speak.
Just curious to hear why YOU think this is important. If I'm correct in my assumptions above, then it gives more credence to the lies about the "Twelve Tribes" et al (already recognized by Jewish historians as false), but again, why...aside from the lie...is this Phoenician connection important?

So, you believe that there is a continuing tribe of Phoenicians somewhere, unnoticed, behind the "curtain"?
