There was no way in hell the FBI would go after JFK Jr. back in 1994. Of course, they are going to say it was a hoax. Otherwise, some very powerful people would be embarrassed, and some people would have unfortunate accidents. Better to sweep it all under the rug and pretend it didn't happen. That way, when they take him out there isn't any kind of paper trail.
