I had a really bad episode of sleep paralysis last night and it felt demonic in nature. It happens to me once or twice every year it seems. As darkness starts to settle in for the night, I’m getting scared to go to sleep in a little while. If you’re reading this can you pray for me? Thank you

Sleep paralysis is the worst! I've had it happen to me maybe half a dozen times.
One time I dreamed I was walking down extremely dark steps into an immensely dark concrete basement. Right before I reached the bottom something laughed or made some kind of spine chilling creepy noise, not human in any way, and a face flashed in front of mine. It was absolutely demonic. It scared me right awake but when I woke up and opened my eyes, I couldn't move. I was stuck on my stomach, my arms trapped beneath, I just couldn't move them despite my mind sending commands to move.
I realized I was too warm as well. It was winter and my room would get frigidly cold all throughout winter, but nights were even worse so I would sleep with an electric blanket but tried to keep it low so I wouldn't over-heat. Somehow I ended up over-heating, and I've discovered over the years that if I over-heat while sleeping I have nightmares and sometimes sleep paralysis. After maybe 10 minutes I could finally move but I was so scared I almost didn't want to. That was the first time in my adult life that a nightmare frightened me so much long after I had woken up.
Sorry for the long story, but I mention it to ask if perhaps something is causing your sleep paralysis? For me it appears to be over-heating during sleep. It causes the nightmares and even sleep paralysis. If you've had episodes like this before, try to find any similarities during each time. Were you too hot? Too cold? Uncomfortable? Hungry? Too full? All of these can cause strange things to happen during sleep.
Lots of Strang things like you have brought has happened to me. Sometimes I'm clearly looking around the room but can't move. Dark shadowy figures popping in and out from corners or right above me. The spookiest part of it all, sometimes when I come to, I'm not even laying in a position where I could have possibly seen the part of the room I was looking at. Yes, the absolute wort times are when you hear them making inhuman growls or screams.
Yeah, they get really weird. As far as I can remember I haven't had any for a while now, maybe years? I had more when I was younger.
wow yeah that is scary. from all the comments in this thread, it seems that a lot of us have dealt with or are dealing with this same issue. At least we can have comfort in knowing we aren't alone
I have seen the flash of a face too and its the absolute worst. This has been happening to me off and on for like 15 years now. I cant find any pattern to it. I turn my thermostat way down at night and I dont remember being hot when I woke up from it last night. there really seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. I always try to figure it out, and nothing. I dont drink often, dont take any meds, i take vitamins, work out, eat decent food. idk
Wow, I'm not the only one who saw a face? That's crazy. It's definitely demonic, but try not to panic. Try to recite in your mind or out loud "Jesus I trust in You" or "Viva Cristo Rey!" (Long live Christ the King!) or something else with Christ's name to chase away the demons. They cannot stand His name.
If your episodes aren't being caused by something physical (heat, cold, food, etc.) then it must be something psychological, or maybe just spiritual. But maybe you have too much on your mind before you go to sleep, too much anxiety, etc. Could also be possible that demons are trying to torment you or attach to you. Hopefully I'm wrong, that is the worst case scenario and isn't very likely, but deepening your faith never hurts.
In the end, don't have fear, Jesus has you in His arms. Find solace and rest there.
I do believe it is demonic. It has been going on for so long, off and on. I think half of me has accepted it as just something that happens occasionally and the other half is still scared of it
Be Not Afraid! Whenever it happens try to speak Jesus' name. He WILL protect you.
