Dims are trying to pass legislation to prevent a judicial candidates party from being displayed on voting machines/ballots.
Smells like panic to me.
HB 206 by Rep Green, Democrat - Prohibits indication of political party of judicial candidates on ballots. It is scheduled for floor debate - Tues. 4/12. Please call all Republican State Reps and tell them to VOTE NO! We need to preserve the voters right to know every candidates party affiliation and have it listed on the ballot.
Its Louisiana, the ppl tend to vote for familiar family names (cajun / creole) if they know nothing about the candidate, and somtimes if they do know.
FLORIDA judicial races are non partisan.
The system does not want voters to know the judicial candidates, let alone know their party status.
They group their judicial candidate forums with the Sheriffs in the counties, in runups to the elections. Also non partisan races.
Where and how the JUDICIAL candidates let you know their political philosophy and leanings are through a couple of coded resume padders. While they are lawyers and public defenders/prosecutors they tell you things such as this:
"I'm a Big Sister, (or was), "I was a big sister for 18 years!" (female democrat).
"I've been a big brother for 25 years!" Male democrat.
Every judicial forum I sat through.
Crazy - people might be electing those like justice brown w/out knowing it.
The only good thing that will happen if this passes is people will have to look up the person to see their party affiliation and then they might even learn a thing or 2 about them!
Hoping they'd be that motivated. So many are just too damned lazy and will vote for whoever the MSM tells them is good.
