the starlink satellites being used in ukraine sealed it for me, he can fuck off with the rest of them when the time comes.
If he hadn’t made starlink available in Ukraine the only updates we’d have available to us would be through state media, because of Musk locals are broadcasting live videos on their socials. I can see that he could plausibly be playing for either side. I can’t figure him out; one thing I know for sure is he trolls everyone, but liberals heads are exploding.
good point.
At the same time he refused to block russian sites. He's a free speech absolutist.
If he had sent starlink equipment to the Russians too I would see your point. While I have no clue of the logistics that go with balancing a positive public image, I still think its obviously clear that this particular group of events was not the smartest hill to climb if he wants to portray a true neutral stance. And then we must not forget his PR challenge of a fight with putin. Do real good, for all, equally, or just stay out of it, or die on your side of the hill.
How would he get the Starlink equipment TO the Russians? No common carriers were delivering there and there weren't any volunteer units doing that. And he still has a business to run at the same time AND keep his US gov contracts.
Don't whataboutism this.
...the exact same way he got it to the ukranians, by announcing "hey, I have this stuff for you"
....don't overcomplicate this. if elon wanted to give the equipment to the russians, there are always ways.
Ellon said that Russia could use it as well that he would not change his mind unless a gun was put to his head. it was all strategic so that Russia could show the world who the bad guys really are
