Jesus Christ was cut down from the cross at 3pm on Friday and laid in the tomb that same night. Sunday, the tomb was found empty. I don't see any benefit to extending this period by 3 or 4 days. What you might have picked up on is that there is not consensus on the calendar. The lunar calendar gives us today as Good Friday but the first fruits method (ripeness of barley in Israel, plus new moon and other indicators) could place it some weeks earlier.
Here's what the gospels say:
He was taken down from the Cross on 14th day of the first month just before dusk, and laid in the tomb before the new day began - God's days run sundown to sundown.. Jesus Himself said He would be in the tomb 3 days AND 3 nights. Matthew 12:40.
Since God determined all of this can I suggest you repent of you arrogant statement 'I don't see any benefit ...'
The anti-God sentiment of Easter, Good Friday etc is part of the church arrogant control system.
No defensive nature at all - it is important to point out where people are in serious error - as you were. Others who are not aware of what the Bible actually says may believe you!
God has set it all out for us, we just need to believe Him.
Matthew 12:40 KJV For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
This^^ doesn't say "part" of one day and then "part" of another night. Jesus was crucified and died on either Weds or Thurs, before sunset, depending upon which day you believe His Body was resurrected. When God says it, it is not disputable.
