The redditor actually asked: Why is every Roman statue white?
I'm not talking about race, pretty much every Roman statue is just completely blank and some of them have barely visible eyes. Is there a reason why there are no colours and they're just completely white without colour?

Oh. They used to be painted, but that wore off.
Really? So we have any that the paint did not wear off? I’d really like to see that.
I thought becyase they were carved out of marble, they were kept that way.

Wow. That looks cool.
Looks like an ancient Roman NPC
Yeah, there were a few that survived buried in mud that had paint, they're very lifelike colors and bright, it's pretty cool.
Did the sun fade out the paint?
I'm not sure really... I remember reading an article where they did a microscopic look at statues to recreate what they would have looked like.
Artists of the Renaissance were inspired by Roman sculptures and tried to imitate the white marble form, not knowing that it was originally painted.
