Friday night I went to my town council meeting and it was wins all the way down. I'd never been to a town council meeting before, so I was very surprised to see what was happening.
For a few days of the week I live in DC for work and hate it, the rest of the week I live on my farm about 90 minutes outside of Raleigh, NC where I am trying to be way more involved on the local level.
The municipality was lead by the Mayor and the elected board. The Mayor was wearing a MAGA pin and was very based, he was a big ole good ole boy who also owned the hardware store in town which I didn't know.
Everyone on the elected board seemed based except one woman who was pretty liberal and was annoying, but people were pretty open about letting her know she wouldn't be elected again. Everyone except her were elected in the last election and had flipped the entire council from lib to based. The whole place just openly mocked her.
Most of the meeting was figuring out who was responsible for what and budgets and stuff. I volunteered to sit in as secretary since that spot had gone unfilled since the last person resigned. Right off the bat, the whole board voted to eliminate their own pay and eliminate any local mandates on masking that were left.
I'm excited for the next meeting and what we can accomplish on a local level.
Good on you and thank you for sharing!
