I know that many will say that Hosea is just to the Israelites. But I think we confuse ourselves by assigning scripture to people groups. In Hosea the woman is drawn into the wilderness and comforted and sustained, like the Israelites when they came out of Egypt.
Then Hosea 2: 16 And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi (husband); and shalt call me no more Baali (master).
17:For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.
Here we see a marriage between God and this woman after she forgets her previous 'masters'. I think if we say that is only to Israel then we exclude ourselves from that marriage. I think the bible is much more oriented upon grafting into the vine, the spirit of adoption and the uniting of the Body of Christ with the Root of David. So there is much to consider about what this prophecy is saying to the modern Christian church.
