Two things make demons uncloak and become very overt.

Either so much confidence that their infernal agenda will succeed, and hence there is no longer a need for stealth, dissembling, or behind the scenes subversion.

Panic, fear, terror at the thought that the righteous are coming for them, lead by Jesus who is in the vanguard.

Getting the feeling its the second of these two options. And that is so comfy!
