Anons, some serious datefaggery here. But I think I found something.
Working with some contacts, I discovered that the DOD Skill-bridge program is being defunded effective 28 July. This is the crown jewel of DOD programs for transitioning service-members and would be a political disaster (arguably one of the few things both parties would agree on due to massive political interest groups who benefit).
Allowing this program to end would only be due to a known reason that it is no longer needed.
In a separate but equally disturbing alignment of dates, the Secretary of Defense responded to Congressional Inquiries (donāt ask me how I know) asking about personnel numbers due to impact of vaccine separations. SecDef responded that numbers would not be available until after 18 July.

Do you have a source on the defunding? Can you be more specific on what the Skill-bridge program is? If you ask us to do some research, we need some more info to be a good starting point.
Source is high up. This is after it was announced that skillbridge was cancelled for use in congressional offices (which prompted the follow up). I will find the sauce on this and provide. The cancellation did not seem odd as I initially thought nothing of it as it likely was an ethics issue.
For referenceā¦Skillbridge is a program that allows military members getting out to perform an internship, while still getting paid by the military, usually up to 6 months before they leave service. It is a good deal in that personnel get to learn some hard skills and build relationships in the industry they want to go into while companies essentially get free labor for a period of time. This is the backbone of stable transitions but assumes there is no need for the service member for the remainder of time.
