This clearly isn't about the betterment or enrichment of society, so why is that such an issue for them?

Because they're fundamentalist Satanists who have been brought up in evil families of child sacrifice and power.

They believe that none of their goals, including world war and thus additional mass adult human sacrifice, can be achieved without appeasing Moloch/Molech.

They need to feed the beast to maintain their power.

The fact that losing one single court issue has them in such a panic that they're terrified of losing everything signifies to me that literally everything they're trying to accomplish is predicated on mass child sacrifice.
