With the lesser availability of baby formula (junk food, poor nourishment), probably a lot of mothers are scrambling to find something else. First, I had forgotten but mothers CAN restart or start their own milk supply. Look for restarting breastfeeding, inducing lactation, re-lactation on youtube.
Secondly, ThePatriotNurse has an excellent video on this subject found here, sorry for the youtube link, couldn’t find another.
Third, one of my go-to sites for stellar nutritional information-- (www.westonaprice.org)--recommends two books that are FREE and downloadable, The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby and Child Care and Nourishing Traditions. They can be found here and here.

There is a simple recipe for homemade formula, but everyone goes apoplectic over the ingredients: evaporated milk, 2 teaspoons of Karo syrup, and enough water to make a quart. They eat fruit by the pound, but think the fructose in that little bit of syrup spread over half a dozen milk bottles is going to kill a baby. Not so. It's a lot better than starving.
