I'm not sure that is implied. Most likely they will wait to impeach him after midterms to lessen the impact it would have on the midterms?
Edit: if he's impeached, maybe he won't resign? Who would replace him if he did? Does it auto make Kamala POTUS? Or do they get to appoint their own POTUS?
If the President leaves/dies before their term, then the Vice President becomes President. The new President would then be able to nominate a new Vice President but that nomination would need to be confirmed by Congress.
I guess the idea is to impeach biden when congress has a majority favoring it for maximum effectiveness. kamala would then be over a barrel with no support. At worst only be able to do anything with weak Executive Orders and at best do nothing for 2 more years.
The trick would be to impeach the "current VP" (she's illegitimate, but I digress) FIRST so that the spot remains vacant. That way after Biden is impeached and removed, there is no VP to automatically ascend. Speaker is next in line. Assuming the Red Wave occurs, Speaker will be determined by Republicans.
It's my understanding that the automatic chain of succession only occurs if both the Vice President and President were lost at the same time.
If kamala were impeached today, biden would just nominate a shoe in that both sides would agree to and get a new one in asap. But on the other hand if things move quickly then it might work impeaching them separately. Ford took 2 months to get confirmed as replacement for Agnew.
So they already know they will have major loses in the midterms
