I do if from heirloom seed. Some of the hybrid stuff may not produce the same variety the next year. I actually have some squash seed that has been passed down in the family for many generations -40lb+ striped "crook-neck" squash. Gramp told me to always save the seed from the largest/best one.
I need to get a greenhouse built to be able to do more spring starts in the future.
